Yesterday the world lost an amazing, strong, fierce woman in my grandmother.
A couple of weeks ago she started going downhill and I got in my car and drove to KY to say my goodbyes to her. She was in the hospital a few days then got to go home to be in a known place for the end.
Some of her last words to me were, “I’m ready to go home. You know what I mean.” She knew she was dying and was at peace with that fact.
I returned to Florida knowing that was probably my last time I would get to see her, but my heart was broken when I got the news yesterday.
She was a strong willed artistic woman who I share loads of tendencies with and knowing she is no longer with us pains me today but I know she is now at rest and at peace.
She loved me, I loved her, and the world is a little less vibrant for me without her in it.
Tell the ones you love that you love them.
Tomorrow is never promised.
I love you Lula and so glad I got to tell you. I’ll see you on the other side.
