May is mental health awareness month. As stated in President Bidens Proclamation on National Mental Health Awareness Month millions of adults and children across America experience mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder and nearly one in five Americans lives with a mental health condition.
.
Those living with mental health conditions are our family, friends, classmates, neighbors, and coworkers.
.
I think there needs to be much improvement in the mental health care system but I am hopeful we are getting closer to better solutions for our loved ones.
.
Friends, your mental health matters. I have gone through past seasons of my life where I needed to reach out and speak to someone about what my mind and heart were going through. After experiencing CPTSD from the decade+ years of working in the sex industry in my 20’s, my mental, spiritual and physical healing was imperative to having the beautiful view of the world, people and life I have today.
.
I believe we are built to be in relationship and community with each other, encouraging each other, sharpening each other, loving each other and serving each other with the specific gifts we are given.
.
If you find yourself feeling alone, reach out to someone and let them know. If you don’t feel that you can talk to anyone you know, reach out to NAMI (The National Alliance on Mental Illness) or by calling the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK or by calling 1-800-662-HELP.
.
Life is a gift ya’ll. And we get to do it together…
