Today is the day! 21 years of sobriety. I walked into my first 12 step meeting with a baseball cap on, a huge hangover from the night before and a desire to change my life. One decision to change. And it changed my ENTIRE life. Left: A little over 20 years ago in a hotel in Mexico City a few months before I hit the bottom of alcoholism and cocaine addiction, holding a beer can and trying to look like I was pulled together. Right: This year. TODAY I get to celebrate 21 YEARS of SOBRIETY. This morning I was just thinking how grateful I am to #1 – still be alive. #2 that I have my sobriety. I am so blessed to have the life I fought for and dreamed of.

So – what’s happened in those 21 years? FIRST. Let me tell you what HASN’T happened in the past 21 years.

I haven’t woken up the morning after a huge bender with a headache and not remembering what happened the night before.

I haven’t asked complete strangers where I could score some coke.

I haven’t thrown up twice a night just to make room in my stomach so I could make room for more alcohol.

I haven’t gotten violent and thrown things and broken things because I was so angry.

I haven’t stayed up 3 nights in a row on a coke bender.

I look back on my life then and it seems like a completely different person. Good grief.

And listen… It takes TIME. The first 2 years were NOT FUN. But you just have to keep putting one step in front of the other.

Here is what HAS happened. And I know these things couldn’t have happened unless I had gotten sober from drugs and alcohol.

I worked hard to get out of a 13 year career in adult entertainment. I took on 3 jobs after I decided I had to get out and heal from the years of addiction and abuse. I became a Christian in 2003 and have gotten the gift of doing some amazing things for God.

I started studying and developing support groups in 2005 for women who struggle with sex addiction and launched a non profit in 2007 helping women who are in the sex industry. I met and married my amazing husband Tim Savage.

I survived Breast Cancer. In fact I just had my 5 year cancer free anniversary! You can hear a podcast about that HERE. We launched a church plant in South Beach.

We now have a few companies and initiatives that are coming up that are amazing! Savage Life Skills, The Leadership Academy, and a few surprises 😉

Our life is good. Our life is full. God is good.

Listen. Don’t give up on your dreams. Just go for it.

NEVER GIVE UP. Keep on going. You CAN do it!! No matter what has happened in your life. No matter how old you think you are. No matter how many obstacles seem to be in your way.

KEEP AT IT. The world needs something that YOU have inside of you. That only YOU can contribute. Sort through what that is and GO FOR IT.

Love y’all –

Sandi – xoxo
