So. I’d love to hear your thoughts. What do you believe the church in the US is doing well and what can the church as a whole do better? (Or do at all.) Comment below or message me 🙂 .
I’ve been diving deep into these thoughts for a long time since first becoming a church planter years ago. I know for sure I have not done all of this perfectly through the years – I’m flawed and it’s a growth process. Hopefully I am getting better at it every day. .
I believe the church should do a much better job at loving everyone, equipping people to make a change in their communities and loving each other well. .
I believe the church should work hard to keep people safe from abuse, and not protect, lie and cover up for the abusers. It should be a place that advocates for people, not uses people. .
The church should be a loving, welcoming, equipping, activist place where people are encouraged to use their gifts also outside of the church to help people around them instead of keeping them only inside the church to build their own agendas. .
The church should be a place of healing, not hurting someone more.
It should be a diverse, open armed home for anyone who walks through the doors. .
It should be a place to encounter God, not a place that strives to entertain people.
It should partner with non-profits in the community. .
And – simplicity. Worshiping, doing actual life together in community and serving the community around us is pretty simple. Not easy, its REALLY MESSY – but it is simple. .
Just a few of my thoughts – there are lots more…
So for you – what do you think? What is the church doing well and what can the church do better?
